Happy Mother’s Day to all.
Today, my family and I enjoyed a delicious brunch, admired beautiful bouquets and baskets of wonderfully smelling flowers at my uncle’s greenhouse, planted my favorite succulents – hen & chicks, and played a family game of bocci ball. I know my mom enjoyed her day; my sisters and I tried to plan all of her favorite things & I think we did well 🙂
Tonight, after my family left, I went down the street to snuggle baby Jack & catch up with one of my best friends, Katie, [who became a first time mom two weeks ago, remember I threw this shower for her back in March]. My visits have truly been amazing.
For starters, baby Jack is the most adorable little boy. Today he was so alert during my snuggles; he’s changed so much since my Sunday visit last week. I love, love, love him to pieces and I am going to continue to bug her weekly to snuggle and kiss his little cheeks.
Katie and her husband Taylor have also been amazing to watch become parents. For my friend, who refused to hold other newborn babies because she just wasn’t quite sure, she is SUCH a natural mother. The way she holds Jack, looks at Jack, kisses Jack, & loves Jack is such a wonderful joy to be around and to witness. I’m incredibly lucky she’s right down the road & I can be a part of her and her baby’s life.
So, tonight as I sit with Ace snuggled up in my lap, I realize how thankful I am for all the wonderful mothers in my life; my own mother, who has given me so much, taught me so much, & loved me so much, and it’s so special to have so many other amazing women who have helped shape who I am. I think being a mother is the greatest gift & I can’t wait until my time comes.
But, in the meantime, I can mother little Ace, sneak him treats, snuggle, snuggle, snuggle, & be in the lives of so many great mothers in my life. <3
xo my tulips, off to bed I go – four Mondays of school left, but who’s counting???
