I completed my first do it yourself project yesterday. It felt amazing! Now, I completely understand why certain people have such a hobby in recreating pieces for themselves! What I am most proud of, is that I really did do this project MYSELF! & I wasn’t afraid to TRY!
Let me tell you a little story:
I really love the industrial look that’s popular right now. Mixing woods with metal and exposed brick is absolutely stunning! However, in a ‘new build’ as our house is considered, it’s hard to have this character. We didn’t buy a house with an exposed brick wall, or really any unique charm. Don’t get me wrong – our house is lovely! Never in a million years did I think I would be able to afford what we currently live it. I know exactly how lucky we are. BUT I love the character that an older house brings to the table.
I’ve made it my mission to bring this industrial vibe to my home – and preferably in a way that’s easy on the wallet!
One of the projects I had in mind was to replace our ugly pendant lights in the kitchen above our center island. I knew if I found the right look, it could completely transform how that space looked. I definitely succeeded. I found some great, old vintage-looking pendant shades at a local boutique, and then priced out and brought a bronzed, cord mounting kit for the ceiling to hang the new lights. The final result is amazing!
Tony isn’t a huge fan of the new lights – he doesn’t quite see my vision yet – but I will get him there, soon!
I LOVE the way the new pendants bring out the colors of the stone back splash, our cabinets, and the tints in our granite. In my mind, it couldn’t be more perfect!

Overall, I’m glad I just started. I have never felt more content, happy, and satisfied. Now, I get to go watch my best friend try on wedding dresses! Happy Tuesday!! xo
